We do provide in-store and on-line appraisals. Our appraisal fee is $45 and includes an appraisal certificate. If we buy your guitar or amp we will refund your appraisal fee. Online appraisal customers will receive a copy of the appraisal in the mail. We travel a great deal buying guitars and amps. If you are going to stop by our shop for an appraisal please call ahead (773-878-8616) to make sure an appraiser is going to be in the store. Here are a few things to consider when estimating the value of your guitar. Like any antique or collectable, there is no exact value for a particular guitar. A guitar is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Our appraisal of the replacement value of a guitar is made up of several factors including the date of manufacture, model, condition, originality, authenticity and of course current market conditions. Please keep in mind our replacement value is the full retail price. This is not the price you should expect to sell your guitar for, it's the retail price you would pay if you walked into a dealer and paid list price to replace your guitar or amp. It's best to contact a well respected vintage guitar dealer who knows the market and who can provide an accurate estimate of your guitar or amp value. There are a number of excellent appraisers to choose from.
How to Submit Your Guitar or Amp for an Appraisal There are two ways for us to appraise your guitar. You can bring your guitar into our store during working hours (please call ahead to make sure our appraisers will be in) or you can send us photos of the guitar and we can perform an online appraisal. We accept most major credit cards as well as paypal. Our appraisal fee is $45. When submitting your guitar for an online appraisal you will need to send us detailed photographs and information on your guitar or amp. Also keep in mind that an online appraisal is based on the photographs and information you provide and is not as accurate as an in-person inspection. If the appraisal is for insurance purposes then you need to check with your insurance company to make sure they will accept an on-line appraisal. For On-line Appraisals (U.S. Only): 1) Call our shop to buy an on-line appraisal or Purchase an online appraisal from our web site (- click here-) . Make sure to use the comment box on the order screen to tell us your guitar make and model. 2) We will need a detailed description and photographs of your guitar. Please take clear photographs of the following: Full Frontal Photo of the entire guitar 3) Please provide make, model and serial number of your guitar. Also describe any repairs and/or original parts that have been replaced. 4) Email your photographs, Name, Street Address and Guitar information to rocknrollvintage@gmail.com We will send you a written appraisal via USPS. There are several methods of payment for your online guitar appraisal.
